4/5

eSmart Tax is an extremely affordable solution with lots of helpful features, but it lacks phone and online community forum support.

eSmart Tax Review

One of the most appealing aspects included in all of eSmart tax filing options — it provides support at any of the physical Liberty Tax Service locations throughout the United States and Canada. That means that unlike most online filing services, eSmart filers can get access to a tax professional in person when they have questions about their filing. There are currently 4,400 Liberty Tax locations available to assist clients throughout the United States and Canada and there are 23,000 certified tax preparers available to help. What’s missing from eSmart Tax compared to the top-of-the-line services? Downloadable software, the ability to ask questions of a community using an interactive forum, no phone support, national average comparisons and the ability to file as a larger business.

E Smart Tax Filing Users Weigh In

Here’s a sampling of what consumers have to say about their experiences with eSmart Tax.

Positive eSmart Tax Reviews

[eSmart Tax] have put in a request for my refund, yay! I think other e-filing services are more thorough and accurate but their customer service, at least for me, had the answers I needed! Sharron, ConsumerAffairs.com, 3/2/2105

I had never heard of eSmart Tax before this year but I like their products. They have an easy to use interface, live support, and decent pricing. There’s not a whole lot to dislike about them. I’ll definitely use eSmart Tax again in the future. Alexa, The College Investor, 1/26/2015

Negative eSmart Tax Reviews

Used eSmartTax this year, like I had in past years…It was a good product then but now with Liberty, support is via chat which I just spent over an hour on to get one answer, you don’t get a printout of supporting worksheets, and its state product is overpriced at $26 and that can’t handle simple stuff like US Savings Bonds interest. Javier, The Wirecutter, March 2015

About 1 hr. after submitting, I received an email from ESmart stating that my return had been accepted and to check WMR for further updates regarding the processing of my return. 5 days later, I checked WMR and it showed no receipt of my return. I called the IRS and the agent confirmed that they had no record of me filing. Alison, ConsumerAffairs.com 2/1/2015

How Does eSmart Tax Compare to the Competition?

Visit eSmart’s Website

The Internal Revenue Service reports that more than 90% of tax returns were e-filed in 2015 (tax year 2014), up from 86% in the previous tax year. With so many people e-filing these days, how do companies like eSmart Tax compete against the big online tax software companies? There are always going to be those who prefer to go with a big-name tax service provider rather than a “newer” company like eSmart Tax, but the services offered by eSmart Tax are comparable to most of the big-name, online tax filing providers. Compare all of the leading tax filing services at our Best Online Tax Preparation Software page.
